62k - no mods

(after reading the owners manual)

questions:
1. the manual calls for Champion plugs - I prefer Bosch - is that ok?
2. when shifting from H to L (transfer case) - I checked to make sure it could still go into Low - it did but not with out some effort (no I didnt force it) - the manual says you can shift when the car is in motion but not higher than 5 mph - my question is could it need some lube or should the vehicle be moving (very slow) to make shifting into Low easier
3. the high pitch sound it makes in N still blairs when its in Low - I assume B/C it is not fully engaged? - should I get some lube? (what kind and where to apply)
4. what is the best oil wieght for east coast (MD)?
5. is sinthetic oil a bad idea?
6. should I only use Rover oil filters?
7. at 62K should I replace the fuel filter?
8. GAS - manual calls for 90 to 92 - of course the station by me has 87, 89 and 93?
9. loading wieht of stock roof rack?
10. when it comes to a lift - I only want what is needed not excessive - I am thinking 2 inch - what kind of lift can I do that will not require tons of uneseccary mods like getting the driveshafts reworked?

hope these are not dumb questions I just dont want to be dumb

thanks for everyones help now and before I bought my Rover

1. Any plug you want, but it will run better with Cheap Champions

2/3 Ingage while moving is much easier.

4. 10W30 or 10W40 is fine, whichever you prefer... don't go with a 5Wanything.... it just isn't thick enough

5. Nope I run Synthetic with no issues.

6. Any good filter with a anti drain valve i.e no Fram filters.

7. Fuel filter should be changed every 10k, so yes

8. Highest octane you can get to help the motor run better... you will hear all kinds of things from different people, but the higher you run the better or why else would the recommend it.

9. Depends on if you moving or not... moving not over 200lbs. Sitting still a lot more than that.

10. Many options here, but 2 inch is the easiest and least mods required.

Hi, I'm driving the same model, and living in the Emerates we go off-road often. So in reply to some of your questions, Yes the car has to move in slow speed to change the gear. I do not know who invented such mechanism, but it is a pain if you got stock in the desert and like to go to L.D. My disco started leaking all over the engine when I changed to Synthetic oils but is seems that disco's are leaking with any kind of oil anyway. The type of fuel is upon what you do with the car. On the road (normal driving) I go for low octane without problem but in the desert I'm using Premium. You can give it a try, if the engine start knocking on low octane, you know to go for next up.

Enjoy your driving, Francis
