As someone in the market for a Land Rover Discovery, I was wondering what tips you experienced Disco owners had for someone who is new to 4wd ( I own a 1999 Firebird). I am looking in the 6-7k price range and would like to know what I should look for when purchasing a disco. I plan to purchase within the next few weeks. Some questions I had were:

- What are the major differences between from 1996 to 1999(series 1)?
- Are the stock stereos wired to accept the 6cd changer?
- What options do you find especially useful on your disco?

If you have answers to any of these questions of just want to make a comment, please feel free to do so. I am excited to be joining a new board (moving from firebirdv6.com) and look forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome to the forum Ryan... there is lots of info in the buying advise section, but to be specific to help you start out with.

Major Differences 96 - 99 D1, not a lot really, they are basically the same vehicle. But the 99D1 would be the best year to purchase since it was the last model year for the D1 and would hopefully have less issues to iron out.

Stock stereos are wired (yes) to accept a 6 disk CD changer under the passenger seat, but it is a Land Rover specific CD Changer.

Option... Wish I didn't have sun roofs, other than that they have options... kidding. I like the 7 passenger version, since it comes with rear A/C.
