No Break-in instructions in 2013 LR4 Owner' Handbook

Or unless I can't seem to locate it.

I found the following attached break-in procedure/guidelines under the "Driving Hints" section of the 2010 Handbook (via Topix). How come the 2013 manual does not contain this information? Interesting enough 2011 and 2012 Handbooks also do not contain this information (at least not in the ones that are on Topix). Would love to know what would be the updated and proper guidelines are.

Just got my car last week and loving it and looking for errands to run every now and then

Coming from a six year ownership of 2006 LR3 HSE, few observations though (both in and not in favor of LR4) which I'll post later.

Since the 2013 mechanics are 100% exact to the spec of the 2010, just follow that break-in guide.

I want to re-kindle this thread. I too realized, after the fact, that there was no break-in period mentioned in the owner's manual. Unfortunately, I had picked up my vehicle in another city (130 miles away) and it was all freeway driving home at 72 mph. Also, I recall accelerating hard (kick down) one time where I took it to 5,000 RPMs. I hope I didn't mess anything up but one would think there would have been mention of the break-in period in the manual. I do have a faint smell of burning oil after the car has been shut off and sitting in the garage.

Also, I recall test driving another LR4 and we accelerated hard (4-5K RPMs) on a few segments of the test drive.

As a student I worked for Daimler-Benz in Germany. It has been more than a decade that engines do not need break-in. It is taken care of at the factory before being installed in the vehicle.
The only parts of a vehicle that requires some breaking in are the brakes and tires. New brakes require a certain period of time to work to their fullest (you can also bed them in, driving repeatedly to 60mph and stopping to 0, however this requires large amount of space and little traffic or a disregard for private parking lots rules). Tires need to be worn in a little (usually 500 miles) to attain full grip.
It seems totally normal that LR does not require any break-in period for its engines, the 2010 owner's manual was just perpetuating an old belief.

You have to really intentionally try to work the 5.0 V8. I don't think you can really hurt anything. I found it harder to behave with other cars, revy v6's, etc. This thing... I just love crusing at ~1300 rpm with plenty of torque.
