OBD Tools Experiences GAP IID, Icarsoft, BlueDriver

I bought the GAP IID tool and the Icarsoft tool. I was disappointed that the GAP IID tool is limited to what I can do to modify the CCF parameters. I'm still looking into that limitation.

The Icarsoft tool provides more detail about the modules in the vehicle such as the software version, serial number etc. It showed the serial number and VIN of the Blind Spot Module I purchased used. Couldn't find any way the GAP IID would do that.

I had a BlueDriver OBD tool fbut it provides mostly data, related to the check engine light. But it was useful to check my SMOG check readiness. I replaced the battery on my LR4. This erases all the stored data for the oxygen sensors etc. so they will fail the SMOG test and tell you have the drive the vehicle so the computer can record the values. The BlueDriver OBD tool showed it was not ready for the SMOG test.

You can do a bit more with the IID tool than read/change CCF. You can monitor / log / export various values from the various ECUs. You should also be able to scan the various ECU / modules for software / hardware versions. Also calibrate various functions, set several suspension height presets, etc., reset service indicators, do battery replacement and learn new keys, etc. ?

I guess the question is, what's your use case? What are you trying to do ?

Thanks. I replaced a Blind Spot Module. The original module's serial number, model number and the VIN are recorded in the CCF codes. From what I observed, each time you start the vehicle, it looks at these codes and then reads the values from the replacement module. If they don't match it disables the BSM.

I want to change the codes so they match. From what I read, when the vehicle was built, these codes were recorded as part of the configuration.

They (GAP) might be able to help you with that. They have something called the "Fast Lane" service, where the IIDTool can re-flash certain modules for a per-module price -- I have no idea if the BSM would be covered. https://www.gap-diagnostic.com/shop/fast-lane-service/

I've never used that service - when I was looking at adding the adaptive cruise to my LR4, there were some people on the disco3 forum that had GAP re-flash the radar module from a Jaguar to work with the Land Rover. Dunno, probably doesn't hurt to reach out and ask.

@richord Wondering if your icarsoft can read live values for fuel injector pulse width modulation or fuel pump duty cycle on your 2015. GAP tool cannot. I’m thinking about getting another tool that can read some of these live values parameters missing from the GAP tool, but not sure which ones might be good to try.

On my 2015 I can see the low pressure fuel pump duty cycle and pressure with my Think Tool. I can't see the fuel injector duty cycle.
