oil cap missing...

ok i was driving on the highway and all of a sudden the car starts to skip or misfire. or atleast thats how it felt.

once i got home and and looked at the engine bay and all i can see was the missing oil cap. i checked the oil and it looks good its full. and there are no oil spashes on the hood or any other mess.

i am the one that changes the oil on our disco II so there's no one to blame but me.

anyways... would this be problem of the misfiring feel i felt.

i am heading to the LR dealership tomorrow to see if they have a replacement in stock.

Not sure if a missing oil cap will cause issues or not... but skipping/misfiring sounds more like a VSS issue.... If it happens again, and you drop it from 4th to 3rd and it goes away... VSS, if not then we have other issues.

Ya I don't think a missing oil cap would lead to the misfiring thing I felt yesterday maybe I need to change my plugs.

But since I am new to this LR world. Would you let me know what "VSS" mean? Sorry ok you got me. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Marc, VSS is the Vehicle Speed Sensor. There are a bunch of threads on here about them. It's a REALLY easy fix.
