oil change question

just purchased a 2000 land rover discovery II and want to do an oil change. what type of oil,and filter do i use?anything else i should change?

Hard to say what else should be changed with out knowing the mileage???
Same for the oil, where do you live??

For your area you can use 20/50 or 10/40. I use 20/50 Castrol blend and a 3001 K&N oil filter which is about the best you can use on a Rover.
Not knowing what has been done in the past I would say play it safe and do all the fluids. Remember Rover used synthetic from the factory and I would suggest you stay with it. (0 wt for the diffs and t/case, Dextron 3 for the transmission I use Vavolina's synthetic for the power steering and brakes. I to[ everything of with Lucas additives and have a happy truck.
