I've long thought about an oil reminder to put over the start button. If I had a 3D printer, it would be some little flip up cover like a fighter jet.

I don't have a 3D printer though, so I went with PBAD instead. Paper board aided design.

Whenever I want to check the oil the next time I get in, just stuff the tab of paper into the HVAC damper. Enough to prevent the absent minded muscle memory from immediately proceeding to putting your foot on the brake and hitting the button.

I don't check oil between oil changes, but it's been pretty consistent - put in 8L, get out 7L, over 5k miles.

I check almost every time I drive my LR4. It's easy enough to do.

My driveway is sloped both front to back and side to side, so that's probably a contributing factor to not checking.
