Greetings! I am new to this board, but not Rovers - after three Rangies I am on my first Disco - a 2000!
It just turned 60K and I had the big service done at the dealer - all records are up to ***** and she does not leak (sunroof withstanding) Wasting no time at all, I have sold the 18' wheels in favor of 16" steel ones to go with my 'pretty' silver 16' that also came with the Disco.

My question is the one beat into the ground - I have searched the site, but have not found an exact answer:

I am running an OME MEDIUM kit that gave me about an inch and a half lift. I really want to run 235/85/16's but also want to be smart. I will never run wide tires - made that mistake on my second Rover - and the added lift of the 235's (32" tires) would be great for my move from Alaska to Colorado this late November - December. The measuring tape says go for it - Anyone here have this combo?

Many thanks for your input - what a GREAT site!

Regards!

Hmmm

So, by your post in that thread, I should be OK? My problem lies in the fact that I live in Alaska and trial fittings are not going to happen. Customer Service does not exist up here... so I am stuck with they mount. I actually had a big tire store manager tell me that if I wanted to buy a tire to try, he would be happy to sell it to me! How accommodating!

Yes, they will fit... I run 31-10.50-15 with a little trimming in the rear on a 2" lift. I also run a set of 245-75-16 about the same size as the 235-85-16, just mine are a little wider and they ran fine with a little trimming since the 235 would be narrower, you shouldn't have an issue.

I trimmed due to off roading, road wise I would never notice.

What is that you trim in the rear wheel well? It just LOOKS like the front would be a bigger problem than the rear... If it is so close so as to trim - does that create a problem when you build snow or mud on the tread of the tires?

I read that to put the 235 85 R16 on the Rover one would need to have at least a 2 inch lift (read this on the Atlantic British Ltd. site)

Well, I just had my 235/85/16 mounted on factory five spoke wheels on a Disco II with an OME MEDIUM kit. No rub - none - notta - zilch. Put it over my ditch and had a bit more room than I expected. The only downer is the front - not much room for chains with the factory bumper. Enter ARB - when I have the extra $$$ That will solve that!
