Parking brake service mode and adjustment knurl help

Tried the procedure several times to put it into service mode but no luck (position 2 hit the brake pedal 3 times and hold and push down on EPB lever for 3-5 seconds). Is this really necessary to replace rear rotors?

I ask because I cannot get my adjustment knurl to move on one side. Managed to get the old rotor off but the knurl literally will not turn either way. Is it normal for the spring to be touching it? Worried if I put the rotor back on that the wheel will be locked up.

Atlantic british have a video on the rear brake rotor replacement and I don't think mentions using the pedal. It has you click one way then backing off. You gotta fix that movement it sounds like.

Hmm, well I put the new rotor on and it seems fine. I wasn't able to get it into "mounting mode" or service mode as mentioned. I wasn't able to turn the adjustment at all. I wonder if something isn't together right? I'll have to go over the instructions provided (thank you!) and see if there is anything amiss.

There's no way it is set correctly with a new rotor if you changed nothing on the adjuster. I imagine it will overheat and cause berth bad things.

I'm stumped. Turns out the adjustment was already fully released. This was the case on both sides. I went ahead and put everything back together and the parking brake is definitely dragging. It engages and disengages fine. Realized that this is also likely the source of a metallic noise I've had since I bought the truck, it's just much louder now and I can feel it dragging. So if the adjustment is already released, and the pads are still dragging (but the rotors went on fine) what could be the problem?

Yeah, didn't find any help. Still unclear as to why my adjusters were already fully released, without touching them, and why the handbrake drags while they are fully released.

It might have something to do with putting it into service/mounting mode, but many other guides completely leave out that step and I can't seem to get it to work at all.

Either way, it's at the mechanic to sort it out now. Ran out of time to troubleshoot. Thanks for all your help.

Seems a couple of possibilities. 1 - are they the correct brake shoes for your vehicle, 2 - Are they installed correctly, that is fitted correctly at the none adjustment end. 3 - Are they centred correctly, because if not you cannot use adjuster. 4 - Are springs fitted correctly. 5 - may have wrong disks for your vehicle.
