I'm looking for help with the CD Changer in my Disco II. I burned a CD a couple of nights ago and played it in the car without a problem. The next day, the CD Changer wouldn't acknowledge it. The screen read NO DISC. The CD/albums that I purchased at the record store played without a problem. My personal creation wouldn't. Any ideas on what the proble is and how I can correct it?

Sounds like the laser reader is not reading/recognising your 'burnt' CD. Firstly, give the disc a clean and try again, otherwise, burn a different brand of CD. This should solve the problem.
Let's know how you make out.

I have the same problem with my CD player in my 2000 Dodge quadcab (stock stereo) but the burnt CDs play on every other unit I have, my disco has an alpine unit.... I haven't found anything to make them work yet, occasionally I can get it to work but as soon as I turn off the truck, or skip songs it cant find it again.... i have tried several brands and some work better than others but none are perfect...I think a lot just depends on how sensitive the player is. If you burn a lot of CDs, costs will even out if you buy an aftermarket player....

I use the Roxio software that came on my computer to burn copies of my CD's so I can leave the original at home where it won't get destroyed.

It took me awhile to get it right. This is what I learned during the process:

1) Using CD-RW's didn't work for me. The CD changer in my truck didn't recognize them.

2) My truck CD Changer does recognize and play CD's burned on CD-R 's most of the time. When I starting burning them onto "music" CD-R's they work everytime. I have no clue what the difference is between regular and music CD's except for they cost a few dollars more for the 20 packs.

3) CD burning was iffy until I began checking the optional box "finalize CD" when burning.

Hope some of that helps you in your quest. For me, it was a frustrating process figuring out how to make them work.

Good Luck, Jamie

Thanks guys. And I thought a CD was a CD was a CD. Roxio came with my computer, so I'll purchase some MUSIC CDs and try this all over again. I should have asked my 12 year old about CDs. He would have known.

From a software perspective: if you have Windows XP, Windows Media Player burns music CDs quite well. Even better is Nero Burnin' Rom, software that will burn almost anything from DVDs to S-VCDs. Nero is my choice of software. "Music" CDs really shouldn't make that much of a difference, the quality of the media is where the difference comes. My guess would be that the "music" CD-Rs are simply better quality CD-Rs.

I use Nero as well and use high end CD-Rs but still have problems on occasion with stock units.... maybe it is just a good excuse for me to get another unit with a remote... I like remotes for everything. TVs, stereos, house lights, garages, remote start, winch, etc. (then I go to the gym) hmmmm.
Anyways....Big Mike please let us know if Music CD-Rs do the trick... your problem sounds similar to mine.

I remembered reading this a while ago. I burned some cds today and they actually are working in my changer. They are "Staple CD-R's". Cheap but they are doing the trick. Hopefully this will work for others.

Cd Problem Solved

I thought I'd let you guys know that I solved this issue, but I must have dreamed it. OK, Roxio on my computer with Maxell Music CD-R solved my problem. I tried using Windows Media Player (Windows XP) with the Maxells, but it didn't work.

I've found that burning them on the slowest speed usually corrects any compatability issues I've had.
