OK, my first off road experience in the LR3 was a lot of fun but unfortunately I had a slight run in with a large rock. Everything looks to be in good shape apart from my rear bumper. The rock has knocked the rear passenger side bumper out of place. As a result of the rear bumper taking a knock I think I may have busted the parking sensor. I am probably going to take the bumper off and see what is going on and I just wanted to know if anyone had any tips on what to expect when removing the rear bumper. I also need to know if it is possible to replace the parking sensors without having to go through a dealership?

I am hoping that the rear bumper will fit back in place with a little pressure, again if anyone has any tips or advice it will be very much appreciated. I will post some pictures tomorrow to give a better idea of my problem.

Thanks in advance.

The rear bumper assembly is remarkably pliant. It probably just came off the clips that help hold it on. you need to remove the two screws that hold the rear lights on, then a number of fasteners around the back of the wheel well, then a few screws under the rear lip of the bumper and then the whole assembly should be able to be pulled off.

I was able to fix this on the trail:

Looks pretty ***** without it!

Thanks for sending the link for the bumper pictures. You were right, there really isn't much to the rear bumper and it was just a case of striping it down and clipping it back into place. I did notice that some of the panel clips were damaged beyond repair and I now need to order some new ones. Do you have an online store where you buy from or do you use your dealership? I lost the tow hook eye cover completely and also need to a hold of a new one. Thanks again for the help, if you have any tips on where to get the panel clips from it will be very much appreciated.

I have not bothered to replace the broken bits on mine yet, but I would get the parts from an Independant Land Rover repair shop, at about 40% savings on average. I know that of the two dealers nearest me, one charges less on parts (only MSRP), but more on labor. The other gouges us on parts but is fair (ok, somewhat fair) on labor. In all cases, the Indy shops are cheaper. If you are in SoCal, let me know.

I just wanted to let you know that I checked with my dealer and they wanted to charge me $8 per clip. I found the exact clips online for $8 for 25. Let me know when you get round to replacing them and I will forward you the link or just send you some of my left overs. Cheers for now.
