My 2008 LR3 has retainer hooks for the rubber floor mats in the driver and passenger seat floor board carpeting but does not have retainer hooks in the back seats (second row seats) for the rubber floor mats that came with the vehicle. The mats are original land rover floor mats. Is this normal or should it have the retainer hooks in the back seat. I have small kids 3 and 5 and from them climbing (literally) in and out have already moved the floor mat into the door and prevented it from closing which I had to reposition. Can the hooks be installed aftermarket? There is not even a hole in the carpet for them to be installed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mine has the retainer hooks in the back...the floor mat part is missing but the floor part is there. Strange that yours doesn't have the floor ones. What trim is it? Are the mats factory fitted?

HSE trim and factory mats. I am second owner so I don't know if they were purchased after the original purchase of the vehicle. Since I don't really want to poke holes in the carpet I may look for other ways.

If I am not mistaken, the retainers are just plastic pieces that screw into the carpet, not the body of the car.

If I remember correctly in 2008. The front heavy duty rubber mats had the hook and the back have the retainers. The fronts will have 1 hole near the middle for the hooks and the rears should have 3 retaining holes on each side including the part that wraps around the seat. Those are for retainers that screw in to the carpet.

Are there any holes in the rear mats? if it does you can get the retainers from the dealer or a land rover parts group. you just screw them into the carpet.

Yes you just need the screw in retainers. Available from the dealer as a separate part from the matts I believe

I had the carpet front and rear mats on my 2006 HSE and replaced them with factory rubber ones. The holes for the retainers were in a different location. I had to drill holes in the carpet at the new locations to get the retainers to thread in.
