Just an update... That top bolt was a *****! It would not come off no matter how hard I tried. I stripped the entire top off trying to grip it with several wrenches. I eventually broke it off, after using a drill and some metal drill bits, I was able to drill a hole through the top of the shock and through the side of the bolt and broke it off. Installed the new shocks and they seem to be working great. My disco looks a little lopsided, like it's leaning to the right, but that could be because I'm parked on an uneven surface, but I"m not sure what's up with that... they should both be on pretty even. It doesn't pull one way or the other when I'm driving so I guess it's nothing.

Let me guess it is leaning to the passenger side... this is normal. When and if you ever change the springs this issue will be resolved.

Yep, how'd you guess. That's cool.. glad to know I didn't do something stupid. I might replace the springs down the line with some off road type like emu... but it's cool for now. The new shocks handle great. I can't stress it enough. It feels like a new range rover. I'm gonna be putting in the steering damper today or tomorrow too. Any tips before I tackle that?

Spray the nuts/bolts down with break free a couple time and let is soak before starting work, other than that easy.
