Hey all,
Well after 8 days of rain the sun finally came out, so I jumped into the Disco for ride lowerd all my windows and enjoyed. As im pulling into the car wash im closing all my windows and the two rear windows don't work! so I leave the car wash and check the fuse and it's fine! What could it be?? it could'nt be both window motors braking at the same time? right?
Is there any way I can close these windows??
Best regards,
Chris

Mine did that too...in my '96 Disco. To get the windows up for now, just bang on the glove box and keep trying the switch.

Strangely enough, I just fixed mine today.
I followed the directions on this webpage...

My bad solder joint was the same as shown on the link above.

Make sure you use a pencil soldering iron...a "gun" will burn up a PC board in a heartbeat.

As much as I appreciate the kudos, I feel I post more questions than answers here. Glad I could help someone else for a change.
As far as the window ECU fix...
1. The page I posted doesn't give specifics, like taking out the glove box:
You don't have to take it out...you could just flex the spring arms all the way up and pull the glove box to let it swing down. I started off with this, and eventually removed the four screws on the hinges (underneath) to get more hand room.
2. Once you get the two nuts off of the ECU, you need to pry it out away from the mount to clear the studs. I used a scraper.
3. The plastic cover that surrounds the connectors is a ***** to get off. You have to kind of "walk" it off. (Mine never did go back on quite the way it started off.)
4. If you're not an experienced printed circuit solderer...
Heat up your iron, clean the tip with wire brush or sandpaper, and apply a bit of solder to one side of the tip. Then apply this dot of solder on the iron to the faulty joint. When the joint melts, apply some solder between the iron and the joint and let it flow for a couple of seconds. Remove the iron by sliding it up the component lead.

Hope it works out for you. I feel pretty confident that it will. The '96 production run of these ECUs must have had a bad iron on the auto-soldering machine or something, as it seems like all the rear window forum posts I've seen have been on 96's.
