Hi guys,
i'm new to this forum,i just bought a D1, 97 w/ 86k miles.
i love my disco, everything works just fine.
but when i shift to REVERSE i hear this clank noise. sometimes it sounds really hard, sometimes it does not sound at all, i thiink it depends weather it was in a prevoius gear or not...like if i just shifted from D it does it, but if i just started the engine it does not.
does anybody know about this problem? or any solution?

thanks in advance.

I have the same thing goin' on with mine too. I just changed the fluid to Mobil 1 and added a bottle of Lucas. The noise is still there but slightly less loud. Sorry I couldn't help much. Anybody else have any ideas?

I'm just a n00b Disco owner, but from what I've read, that clunk is very common.

Mine does it, same symptoms. Notice if you pause with the gear selector in neutral for a second or two before shifting to reverse, no clunk. So there's a little slop in the drivetrain, no biggie. ;)

Rather than calling it a problem id just call it normal. had my disco for 4 years now, always hear the clan when going into R. Its a truck just keep that in mind.
