Newbie here... I'm just trying to be clear, do the tram lines change as a function of both the steering wheel position and the hitch angle of the trailer?

Just steering wheel. If you have the tow assist feature then there will be additional tram lines in purple that would indicate the projected path of the trailer based on the steering wheel position. You need to have the visison assist package for this.

I have a 2012 LUX w/out Vision Assist. Reverse lines are passive as stated.
I was told the V.A. was problematic when I bought mine in December, so I thought skipping it was a good idea. Kind of wish I had it now, if nothing else for when I occasionally tow something.
