Hello all! I’m brand new to blogging, so bear with me! I have a 2011 LR4 with 263,000 miles on her…..yes you read that right! She’s running great, but my timing chain is more than likely on it’s last legs. The front is getting a bit noisy! Should I get e new timing chain installed (at the price of $8000-$13,000) or just call it quits and get a new vehicle? That’s a lot of money to spend on an old vehicle, and she really needs a new paint job :)

Unless I am mistaken you can get it cheaper than $8k as long as it hasn't tore anything up yet, you may even get a used engine for less. But with that said, if you like it, fix it. If you feel it is time to put it out to pasture, that is always an option.

I decided to get the timing chain replaced ( and everything that goes with it, cost $7000). She’s been running great! I also put in a new power steering pump, sway bars, battery. Now I have 282,000 miles on her and have decided to sell her. New problem: my key fobs all of a sudden quit working last week. She had been sitting for 1 week without running her, and I wanted to take inside photos to list her. I replaced the batteries to no avail. Now what?

I presume the real key doesn't help?

I have not tried the real key yet. I’ve been out of commission for a few days. Have you ever used the real key? Where do I have to insert it? I’ll have to look for videos.

The back side of the door handle will have a small removable section (should just pop off) then you insert the key to unlock, then you should be able to at least get into the vehicle. I don't recall the steps to reset the key fob sadly. But I am sure you can google that.
