Hi folks-looking for some advice--
I just brought my 2004 Land Rover Discovery in to a neighborhood service station for oil change, wipers, and anti-freeze.
The Check Engine Light came on yesterday and I set up an appt at my local Land Rover Dealer.
The neighborhood service guy suggested that he wanted to win over my maintenance business as I am post-warrantee. he suggested that he do a "computer diagnostic" to figure out why the check engine light was on and suggested he could save me a lot of money. I told him to go ahead with the free diagnostic but not to fix anything.
He came back with a number of reccomended fixes and suggested that I come back on Monday.
Upon entering my vehicle I noticed that all the sensor lights-hill, brake, ABS were all lit up. He told me it is just a quick computer reset but was unable to complete it today due to them closing-THIS HAS SET OFF ALL MY "TRUST ALARMS!!!"

is any out there able to tell me if this is simple reset or has he fried my on-board computer-the car seems to run just fine-drove it for an hour-PLEASE ADVISE-jim

Well, you have gotten off on the wrong foot, although with good intentions.
Go to your local parts store, no some mechanic, and have them read your fault codes for the check engine light. Only a few scanners can help with the ABS so send me your number and I'll call and walk you thru what to do.
