serious help needed

i need help right away as my son's rover is stranded in a parking lot, and it is my fault!
1990 range rover. my son was letting me drive. we came out of a store and were talking, i was not paying attention. key seemed a bit difficult to get into the ignition, and then would not turn. my stupidity of old age had put the wrong key (my wife's saturn) into the ignition. now the rover key will go in, but will not turn and can not unlock the steering wheel...what can i do to get it home? hot wire it? or what, but i have to get the wheel unlocked first....and money is really tight, so i can't have it towed.....have to do something, help!

try disconnecting the battery for a bit. Not totally sure this will help, but I seem to remember this working on a friend of mines last summer.

tried helping via txt yesterday to no avail, thought it was a security issue, but it almost sounds to me like a mechanical lock failure, like the tumblers in the actual device is broken now. You mentioned not being able to turn the key at all now right?

Sadly the only fix for this is probably to replace the ignition switch.
