Hi, my name is Tim and I'm a brand new member of this site. I recently purchased a 00 Disco and I'm having serious trouble. The engine will idle fine but when I attempt to accelerate the engine will die, but not always. Sometimes it will run fine. It did for a couple of days and now the SES light is on. I had Auto Zone check the OBD and the faults were Transmission controller, MAF, Bank 1 too lean, Bank 2 too lean. This vehicle was purchased as my everyday driver am I'm nervous to leave my house with it. I am pretty experienced in mechanics but not with rovers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead.

Sounds like the MAF sensor is dirty or has gone bad. Try cleaning it with some MAF Sensor cleaner that you can purchase at most autoparts stores.

Hi Joey, looks like your the one to talk to. After I posted yesterday I did clean the MAF and the check engine light went away, but after driving it some today the problem has started back with no SES light. Where can I get a MAF fast? I'm in Georgia U.S.. I changed the filter yesterday and it was terrible. The rover has 63,000 miles on it. Thanks again Tim.

Before you go out and but one... disconnect the MAF sensor for a day and see if the issue goes away... if it does it is your issue (it will give a code or two in the process). If that doesn't fix it, then we need to look at other things.

I deal with Nathan at www.discountbritishparts.com

To order, email: [email protected]

He always has my parts I need in stock and he ships fast.

Tell him Joey sent you.

Thanks Joey, I've driven it for about 50 miles with the MAF unplugged and all is good. I have ordered one today.

Maybe have your fuel pressure checked at the rail? If low it could be the pressure regulator or pump.
