Should I bother putting the OE GoodYear Wranglers back on?

I switched to a narrower tire; I think it works better with the short wheel base. I'm on my second set of Michelin X Cross Terrain tires P235/65R18. I got 50,000 on my first set. 25,000 on the originial set for Goodyears. I get a great ride; tire pressure is huge; I go with 34 in the front and 40 on the rear tires and I rotate every 7,500 miles. The narrower tires also look great.

In addition to road use, our LR3 is on a nearby drive-on beach 2 to 3 times a week in the summer. I like the MTRs but sometimes a too aggressive tread pattern hurts traction in sand, as they dig in more as opposed to floating over the top. The wranglers were pretty good in sand, but as I mentioned, they were bad in the rain.

I'd say the Toyo's would meet your needs then - can't even believe how much better that the OEM tires they are. More positive steering, and super silent on the freeway.

They are correctly speed rated and weight rated - I got the heads-up from a local dealership who had been using them on RRS and more recently on LR3.

$700 for all four corners - fitted and balanced.

If you are spending time on the sand you want to stay on top so a wider tire will be better that is why we air down so far 8-12psi in the sand.

Sorry angasreid, I missed that previous post. Been away from here, busy with work the last month. Luckily I did get a set of used 19" HSE wheels for my winter tires from someome in FL that did put 22" Redbourne wheels on their LR3. Not sure if he added the purple underlighting.

I gave away my GY's with plenty of tread and only 10K miles precisely because of the hydroplanning issue. I vote for the ATR - an all-terrain tire with seemingly no ATesque drawbacks (e.g., ride, noise). My Yoko A/T-S's have been similar, but are only available in 18". I'm planning on putting ATR's on the FFRR next year -see if the wife notices..

Hi all. I am looking to rid myself of my GYs as well. Where do you guys go to get your tires replaced? Any place you favor over others or would strongly recommend against?

Alot of guys like discount tire. I got a better price from 2 local tire shops.

We have the Toyo HT on our roadgoing HSE, but the tire shop manager says many like the AT version on other vehicles.
