I have a 2000 Disco II that has a small antifreeze leak near the back of the engine. I can't see where it's coming from but it's dripping onto the drive shaft and then onto the exhaust. It's leaked about a gallon in 2 months. Any ideas?

head gasket, intake manifold gasket.. heater core, heater core hoses, I could guess more, but without seeing it this is hard to say for sure.

If it were a head gasket, would I see moisture in my oil or have some other indicator?

If you have a non Secondary Air Injection engine, a fair price is for 10 hours of labor and parts at $1450, plus a new t/stat,8 mm plug wires and any head work if necessary, at a shop, at the dealer from $2500 to $3000.
How many miles on the engine?
Do not put this off or you will toast your engine.

By mileage, you could certainly be looking at head gaskets, I did mine at 83,000 miles.
Off subject, have you ever had your front drive shaft rebuilt /replaced to correct itself destruct nature?
