small antifreeze leak near back of engine

Thanks for your expertise on this DiscoMike... I have no idea what shops charge... since my rover hasn't seen a shop except for some exhaust work 7 years ago.

recently bought this rover off ebay. I doubt drive shaft has been rebuilt. what symptoms indicate this needs to be done?

if you don't have a greasable U-joint in the front drive shaft have it rebuilt or replaced... don't wait... symptoms are usually drive shaft comes apart driving down the road and it destroys your transmission.

The easy way to tell is to count the number of grease fittings on the front shaft, if only 1, it needs to be rebuilt or replaced, if 3, then it has been done and just needs to be greased 2 times a year.
Don't wait to replace it when it acts up cause, when this happens, it can also take out your tranny at the same time, there is no grey area.

I had the same thing on my 2000 D2 at 85K. Head gaskets and all associated work done at The Rover Shoppe (great independent shop in Houston, Tx) for $1400.

Also had the drive shaft done there, think it was $600 total. They warned of the same thing Joey and Mike say - no warning before failure, and really bad if it does break.

Thanks for the information from everyone. I think. When looking for parts for the driveshaft, am I looking for a rebuild / upgrade kit or a complete driveshaft upgrade?
