Me and my dad are going to replace all of the speakers in my 2002 disco II... i was hoping someone could tell me the sizes of all of the speakers in the car.
I know that the 4 door speakers are 6.5s but i want to replace the tweeters, the smaller front door speakers, the even smaller rear door speakers, and the barn door speakers. If anyone could tell me the easiest way to take off the door panels to get the the speakers i would greatly appreciate it also.
thanks, gabe

Door panels (I own a Disco 1, but it's gotta be the same for a DII) are held on with plastic rivets. If you work something between the door panel and the metal door, you'll be able to locate them. Either have some extras on hand or be prepared to run to the store to get replacements, because they break, even if you're REALLY careful while popping the panels off.

As for the speakers, I can't help ya, although I'm sure someone will chime in. Good luck!

Arent those 6 1/2's in the back subs?

I wouldn't know - Mine never worked. I was just under the impression they were subs though.

O yea. And if your D2 is like my D1, good luck finding speakers =\ - The ports for the speakers are VERY thin!! You will probably have to go to a radio shop and have them recommend quality speakers that are that thin - I haven't been able to find much on the web.

Gabe,
Why are you wanting to replace the speakers, ahich radio system do you have in there now?

before i wrecked my 4runner i had a pretty nice system with alpine speakers and two 10 inch subs so im used to having some good bass in my car...but i dont' want to put subs in my discovery b/c i want to have more room to carry stuff and want to keep my steering wheel controls and changer but i would like to have a better sound than the paper cone speakers in the car plus i think one or two of them might be busted... i guess i can just go to a car audio store and see if they can help me out getting the right size speakers put in there

I'm sure you know that all the miscellaneous speakers don't help much with the bass...just the 'subs' in the rear.

You just want to replace all the speakers. :p
Why not fix the lack-of-bass issue first, then see if you really need the other speakers afterward?

i think that for now im going to replace the two 6.5 inch speakers in the back and the 4 6.5 inch speakers that are in each door. the smaller speakers don't seem to sound as bad as the others so i will leave them for the time being. thanks for the help

I'm curious how you replace the rear speakers. They're attached in the middle by the amplifier, making direct fit impossible for replacement upgrades. Let us know please.

i took the barn door speaker cover off today but the screws have been stripped so i am going to wait until i can get something to take them off and see how im going to go about changing those speakers
