I just purchased a "slightly" used 06 LR3 SE and am having 2 minor issues:

1) When traveling at speeds greater than 40 mph, there is a constant and high pitched squeak; but for the life of me I cannot discern where the squeak is coming from. There is no squeak when traveling slower and the squeak does not appear to be affeceted by bumps or rough terrain.

2) When traveling over bumps, there is a prominent rattle eminating from the roof area, somewhere above the second and/or third row.

Does anyone have any possible sources for these annoyances? (I have an appointment with LR Service this coming Monday.)

Finally, I skimmed the manual, but is it possible to get the current speed (mph) on the digital readout?

Thanks in advance,

Scott

I don't have the squeak but when you find out what that rattle is please let me know it's driving me crazy!

Have either of you had a friend/spouse drive the vehicle while you attempt to locate the rattle?

I had a roof rattle similar to what you are describing. It was a component of the sunroof sliders that was not properly snapped together. Took it in to the dealer for repair, but it returned shortly thereafter. Was driving with some friends a few days later, and my buddy fixed it in about 10 seconds. I'd suggest taking someone for a drive and have them take a look.

The squeak might be from the middle seat bottom. A dab of grease fixed mine.

The rattle could also be from a loose wire bundle if it sounds like it's coming from near the overhead light. Check it out.

i too had that rattle in my roof. i took it in and the sunroof had a piece of hardware was not tightened properly. they fixed the rattle but cause a cosmetic issue that has been driving me crazy ever since. they could not get the pillar cover back on properly, so from the front of the vehicle you can see in between the pillar cover and the pillar. all the wires are exposed that run into the roof. they even replaced it, but still no luck. i think there is a clip that holds it in tight, as you can see on the passenger side a little more than halfway down. sorry to ramble. either way they fixed my sunroof issue.

Sunroof makes sense, If I hear the rattle I open the roof and then close it the rattle goes away for a while and then returns a few miles later.

I have exactly the same two problems!

A rattle comes from the driver's side of my sunroof, most notably when going over bumps. It sounds like it has something to do with the track assembly... I don't see anything rubbing but I can see a screw, perhaps it's loose - has this fixed the problem for anyone?

Likewise, I have a high pitched squeak when driving over 50mph. The squeak comes from the passenger dash, somehwere on the far right side, and sounds almost like the rubbing of a styrofoam cooler - drives me bonkers! Does anyone know how to get the dash off?

Same issue with the sunroof/roof rattle Also had driver seat movement issue. The dealer "repaired" the rattle. On the way home the rattle came back and they told me the seat movement was normal! Will let you know when they fix it. As much as these things are annoying, after riding in any other SUV -- none can match the LR3! The only real disappointment with my 05 model is the lack of padding and support in the front seats!! much better in the 07!
