Lately after the weather has gotten colder, have been experiencing a very hard/stiff brake pedal when first starting car. So much so that sometimes have to mash the pedal extra hard for the car to successfully start. Once started, pedal is normal. Thinking about bleeding the system but apart from that, anything else to check? Seeing mentions of some check valve near the vacuum booster. Appreciate it!

How cold are we talking?

My dads F150 had a vacuum leak that totally removed all brake pressure if the truck sat for more than a day, but I would assume a huge temperature change can also play a role.

I have been facing this for years. Bleeding the system did not change anything. Anyhow, It as working fine after engine starts.
