Good morning,

I am still fairly new to LR world but I have couple of questions.

1) There is a ticking sound from the engine. It sounds like a valve but the service people say it is normal. I just cannot believe that is normal.

2) What have you all found is the best tire pressure to run.
Tire size 255 /60R /18. No off road street use only.

2005 LR3 33,000 miles

Thanks for you help

Issues that just have ticking as a symptom could be anything...I would not think anyone here would have a clear cut answer for you regarding this, they may have theories, do you have an independent Rover Service center near you to get a second opinion? Might be the best approach to it.

Second, run the recommended tire pressure of your tires. If you are not wheeling there really is no need to wander away from this. hope this was helpful.

I have some engine ticking, not too noticeable. On a prior LR3 it was really bad and it turned out there were a couple cracks in the exhaust that they fixed and it improved greatly. Hard to say how loud your ticking is, yes get a second opinion. I have my tires at 38 front 42 rear.

My '05 HSE makes a slight ticking noise, only noticeable at idle when standing around the hood. It's not loud enough to be a valve or a a cracked exhaust manifold. There is no noise when the engine is cold, only when warmed up. I saw a post where someone got the dealer to re-torque the exhaust manifolds and the noise stopped. I tried the same thing with my dealer and was told the noise was "normal".

I can't even see the exhaust manifolds with the hood open. Does anyone know what the torque spec is and how to access them? Through the wheel wells, maybe?

There are times I notice a slight ticking as well. Not to noticeable. Have you ever noticed any smoke on start up and perhaps any burnt smells?
