Tips for re-installing headliner?

So I ended up dropping the whole headliner for some sunroof drain repair work. It came out easily enough, but it is whooping my butt trying to get it put back in. It has a million pop in rivets that you can't get good sight lines on when trying to line them up with their corresponding holes, I've broken multiple of them trying to press them in when they obviously weren't lined up, and you get one in and move to the next and the weight of the thing pops the one you just left back out.

I'm close to throwing in the towel and taking it to the shop torn apart for them to just fix.
