Based on experience, I would say get the transmission fluid and filter change done at a good Indi shop, my truck is at 230K miles now, and I had the service done at 176K miles and that was the first time the transmission was opened. And everything looked fine, I had it done for my piece mind more than anything else. Don't need to change solenoids if you don't have any shifting issues.

And I am confused about the "water in the transfer case" statement, you should be able to notice some wining, noise or other indication if the transfer case is full of water, I would get a second opinion on that from a Land rover/Jaguar indi shop. If you want to change out the fluids, Atlantic British should have some nice tutorials on how to.

Good luck.

I had a indie LR shop do the transmission fluid change (and filter, but I'd have to check my records) at just over 100K. LR thinks the transmission is good for the "life of the vehicle." Legend has it this means 150K miles. You could also find a ZF specialist since ZF are also found on BMWs.

I'd also encourage you to get comfortable servicing your diffs and transfer case. Seems the diffs can take any high quality fluid but you're better off putting OEM fluid in the t-case (get ready for sticker shock). The good news is the t-case doesn't have to be changed as often.

Do the fluid change and do it sooner rather than later. If you have the shop install the metal pan conversion the labor rate should go down significantly. Also, please use the correct ZF fluid. I know a lot of people use other things, but I wasn't willing go gamble.
