Transmission problem

I have a 99 disco with 120 k miles. What it is doing is, the vehicle coasts. It will not go into park or drive.. its like its just free.. HELP HELP.
IT WON'T GO INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE, NOR IT WILL NOT STAY IN PARK.

D1 or D2? Go start your engine, put it in drive and look under the truck to see if either drive shaft is turning. If one is turning with the engine on and in drive, then the diff that that the turning drive shaft hooks to has failed.

Well hey mike, I found the problem with that granny problem.. I drove out of town to but this vehicle , and their was no problem with the trans whatsoever... The person that I bought my disco from, come to find out they had the transfer case in neutral the whole time and tjats why the transmission would not go into park, drive or reverse... So I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE FOR 800... of course I did not tell him all that it was until I bought it and left....but do thanks for the help...
