With 130,000 miles and an endless list of problems i am finally throwing in the towel on my 1997 Discovery. Despite all the problems i had with it, and money i poured into it i loved the car. I am thinking about trading it in, possibly for a Defender. There is a dealership near me that specializes in Defenders in good shape with low mileage (Copley Motor Cars), but i wanted to get some advice before i make any decision. My 1997 Discovery was fairly unreliable and was constantly in and out of the shop. From the endless questions on this forum that seems to be common. Defender (or the series I and II) have been around forever, are they a more reliable, more well built car than the Discovery?

Keep in mind there will not be much different mechanically between the defender and the Disco I. Other than that it just has less comforts.
