This 255/55/19 size stinks for tire choices...especially winter tires. Only two choices, and each cost over $220

I wonder if they make any chunky tires at this size, or what is recommended from LR when you want to put on a set of meaty tires. Don't the Scorpion tires come in the size you have noted? Are they any good? I think the price seems pretty good, considering the tire. All tires these days are outrageously expensive.

Who needs selection when you have the best?

NOKIAN HAKKAPELIITTA

I got mine from Tiresbyweb.com

279$ each includes shipping and tax

Very happy with them! Highly recommended.

I Live in the Sarnia-London Corridor in Ontario. If you watch the news you will see that there has been a state of emergency called and the Army is trying to rescue people who have been stranded on the 402 Highway since Monday.
The drifts are over 10 feet high.

The LR4 just takes it all in stride, with the best tires and traction control. I went out looking in on friends and relatives. Watched a Jeep with "All-Season" tires just trying to get going. He just sat there spinning his wheels.

So why complain about selection. Just by the best and enjoy.

LR4 with traction control and Nokian's is unstoppable. I could not be happier.

WOW! That's intense.

It's really hard to get any real news in the US anymore. It still baffles and amazes me how the US media (as well as any other media outlet controlled by "crooked politicians and banks") hush up any anti-global-warming stories just to keep this belief the world is melting.

There has been NO news of weather like this. Crazy... Anyway, I do believe in this so called global warming, but feel it has to do with natural cycles of the sun rather than people and cows farting a lot. Amazing this is happening there.

Good luck, be safe.

BTW, just checked out the Web site and those tyres are beautiful!

"There has been NO news of weather like this. Crazy..."

What are you talking about Count Laszlo?
This was the lead story in much of north america

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/storm-forces-military-rescue-stranded-drivers-canada-12400493

http://www.cnbc.com/id/40661509

It was even in the New York Times.

Really .....CNN covered it....
http://edition.cnn.com/2010/US/12/14/winter.weather/

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20101214/wl_nm/us_weather

It was picked up by Reuters......
http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSN1428209520101214

And people in europe know about it.
http://www.euronews.net/2010/12/15/canada-blasted-by-blizzards/

What did you mean by your comment? The media is being controlled and does not tell you about sever weather?...... " hush up any anti-global-warming stories just to keep this belief the world is melting."...... Is this what you meant?

Last week the news was all over the Blizzard in Europe, and the week before that all I heard about was the Blizzard over Buffalo NY.
If the media is being controlled in order to suppress news of these kinds of events then I guess "they" are doing a very lousy job of it.

As for the Hakka's, yes they are the bomb! And Tiresbyweb.com has the best price and ships fast. But you better get them before the "crooked politicians and banks" suppress the story of how good they are.

If you "know" of the event and do a key word search on the Internet you can find the news and share the links. But if you don't know of the event how would you know if it's not in the major headlines in the first place? I read the NYT, Bloomberg, WSJ, FT, and zero hedge everyday and didn't see any such headlines. Drudge Report though has a few general headlines like "Cold weather grips North." I think real news is harder to find these days in the US, maybe if it was readily available it could have a negative affect on the consumer and GDP, as well as the next US election? Also, honestly, do you really believe in global warming?

Sounds like he's saying you can actually edit a news article online, via the internet and redistribute? That would be fascinating!

are stock tires that bad in snow?

My 2010LR4 came with Continentals, and yes I found them to be poor in snow.

I also find most every "all season" tire I have ever had on ANY vehicle to perform poorly on snow.
