Land Rover Discovery 2. Has a very slight and occasional muffled engine tap. Most of the time can barely hear it. The Land Rover dealership indicated that the valve lifters needed cleaning. The engine tap is never on startup; it only happens after the engine warms up and comes and then goes away. For starters, why clean the valve lifters rather than replace them? Any words of wisdom on the subject matter? It is my understanding that this is a common issue.
