I have been seeing this around on some Discos.
The 2 cables comming the roof rack down to the grille guard?

What is the point of this?

to brush tree branches and the such away from your windshield. Used both for protection of the windshield and for visilibility.

Also handy where there are a lot of pedestrians. Keeps people's grimy mitts off your rig! :biggrin:

I wasn't aware of their use either, thanks. Wouldn't it be a little more ideal to have them attach to the top of the roofrack??

Yes. The way they're set up in the picture, branches will slide up the limb risers and right into the top of the snorkel and the lower part of the roof rack basket.
