Hi All,

Does anyone know what this blanking plate at the side of the dash is, and/or what could be installed here?

Interestingly, it holds a plug coming from a wiring harness that sits behind the vent, but isn't connected as the blanking plate doesn't have any pins.

I looked at it on mine and came to the conclusion its to allow you to run a wire out the dash and onto the door or run the wire to the outside of the dash there. I could see the convenience when the plug is through the firewall. I've been contemplating wiring a multimeter to the battery and then I can check it in the cab, ignition on or off because the multimeter has its own battery.

Great idea. Very curious where the existing plug terminates as that may make things pretty straightforward...

I haven't been in there yet. One guy drilled a hole in the firewall right below the brake line on the drivers side to route wiring. If you remove the brake component dust cover in the engine bay, the brake lines are exposed horizontally and the hole was drilled under those lines and there are no obstructions on the other side.

This thread https://www.landroverworld.org/thre...wires-from-battery-to-back.45928/#post-253931 shows a video where someone routes a wire through the firewall but they didn't show any drilling. I doubt the hole was already there but he pulls out a grommet so it initially lead me to believe there is a blanking cover but on the inside the video shows a small 3/8" hole that looks like someone drilled. Its another area to route wires through.
