It takes a lot of time to get the feel for what a new rig is capable of. Start slow and work your way into harder stuff as you feel comfortable. DO NOT give into peer pressure.

Hi J.D. Just sent you my photos to your email. Looking forward to getting them up... should I put them in the obligatory thread or this one?

Not letting peer pressure get to me. Thanks. :) Did you see the post from last night about W.V? any ideas?

I am not sure what you are talking about honestly. I don't think I am familiar at all with the trails you are speaking of.

I'll keep and eye out for the pictures. They have not come thru yet.

Boaz, I don't think I'll depend on a gauge... just my psyche. :) You were definitely at 35, how did that feel? Where were you? Did the gauge bring you comfort? I wouldn't think I would use it to determine whether I am near the flipping point, although my psyche gets the best of me, I may get the gauge only to see just how far I can push my psyche on the inclines.

Near Roanoke...I think near the hone quarry campgrounds? George Washington National Forest... Wash outs and creek crossings as well as some Rocky areas. I have been doing some research and will get out the info, some of these trails sound perfect. Will need a gps now though!! Anyone else hear of some of the trails in this area?

When we bought our LR3, the salesman took us on their little track. It had a 32 deg sidehill, and then a 37 deg sidehill. It's something that is great to experience in a controlled environment and gives you a feel for what the LR3 is capable of. Even tho I consider myself a fairly seasoned wheeler in a more extreme vehicle, I would have second thoughts about taking my crawling rig on that sidehill.

I can't find the picture I want, but this one is close:

I did the dealership track as well - it was the dealer's first LR4, my first time on their track, salesman's first time taking someone on the track.

LR4 did just fine, but the side incline angles were a little over the edge of my comfort zone.

Hi Jesus_Man, Trynian, et all! Pics were uploaded into photo bucket. Some are of older pics of when we used to ride on what we called "Dangerous Road" in Cali. My more recent pics look great, I must say, my LR poses for the camera quite nicely. :) Will get on here today. However...

Sad story: On the evening of April 28th, I was involved in a head on collision (I did not cause it) heading over a bridge here in VA. 3 vehicles, 2 killed, 2 injured ( i was one of the injured). I was discharged last Friday and went to see my LR who was taken to VA Beach yesterday. If you have ever seen the movie "cars"... she truly looked like she felt "sad". She is awaiting USAA to come down and look at her tomorrow. I'm getting different stories on what will happen to her. One of which is, total her because they will need to replace the engine, and, the entire front past the forward doors. Roof rack survived, lights did not. A couple of people who looked at her are quoting about 18k in repairs. I have a $500 ded. Thoughts on if she will be the same if she is fixed? Clearly, one of the safest vehicles to be in when involved in an accident. Thoughts from you all on what I should do? Paid 26k for her. Here comes the girl part... Love her, attached to her... so???

Will post pics of what I took yesterday.

Sorry to hear of your accident and the ones that didn't make it, but glad you are ok. I would rather have a placement vehicle myself.
