So fellas I have been faced with a bit of an issue. At the end of this month I have to go to Trinidad for business and my wife has confronted me about her being able to use my LR3 while I am away. Honestly I was somewhat suprised she asked. I responded with " you don't speak its language and if it asked for help you wouldn't know what to do". So those of you who are married might imagine how she responded. Is it just me or have any of you felt the same over your beloved Land Rovers.

I know what that's like - I have the same trepidation about my wife driving my LR3 - they just don't get it. So I she takes it on short trips around town and parks in the middle of no where to avoid door dings, etc. Give her the small trips - that should take care of that.

I would say: "Welcome to LRW with your first, and very appropriate, post!"

I'd say "don't be nervous, maybe he can teach you how to drive it." Actually, I wouldn't...but it would have made me laugh had I said it.
Welcome to the board!
I let my dad drive an old RR of mine once, being a creature of habit he absentmindedly grabbed my windshield wiper lever and broke it off trying to put it in park. Not your Ford Explorer Father!!!

Well, this thread hits close to home, because it's the reason I HAVE my LR3.

My husband got skittish when I suggested that we sell our minivan so I could drive his 2000 Range Rover (he has a pick-up for everyday driving). Since he was less than willing, I did what any girl would do: I traded in the van for an LR3.

So, Gentlemen, heed my warning: Deny the lady the Land Rover, and she may just have to get her own :)

Good for you Laura! My wife loves to drive the three... especially on the trails. She's become quite the accomplished driver, and I'm beginning to think we will soon be a two Rover Family so we both can enjoy the trails.

You are in fact correct and as she wants a 7 passenger herself. She likes the Range Rover but wishes it had seating for 7. So it looks like my search for a Defender 110 has been put on the back burner and will be getting another LR3 in the near future.

I want to get my wife an '04 Disco for this purpose too!

...Laura, curious, how does your husband feel about you having the LR3 vs. his P38? Is he burning with envy....yet?

A few minutes ago my wife said "My [LR2] doesn't have enough seats for the grandkids so I'm taking your car to the mall". All I could do is nod and smile. I thought I was more enlightened, but it was amazingly difficult to keep a straight face and not jump up and say "OK I'll drive" and end up in the mall all afternoon. Now she's out with my truck and I'm having withdrawals. I know that she won't hurt it, but I don't want it unavailable to me. I'm sure a shrink would have a blast with this one.
