Towed my boat for about 1.5 hours this morning. Parked the car in my driveway. Shut it off. Then noticed my key wouldn't lock the car. I figured it was the key battery, but I replaced the battery and tried my wifes key that is rarely used and nothing.

I even stuck the key under the steering column and it wouldn't recognize it.

What do I do next?

Ya, so I took the positive cable off the battery for about 15 minutes (did that before my last post) and then put it back on. That seems to have fixed it.

Kinda scary that even the 'emergency' key start thing under the steering column didnt work. Must have got the security/key computer screwed up.

So the same thing happened to me a few months ago (minus the boat towing).
Turns out they had to replace my key recognition module...
Make sure to get it checked.

Did you fix it (temporarily) with the battery unplug or did it just never come back?

No I got the truck towed to the dealer and they swapped the module and reprogrammed the keys.

Well, i've stop/started it many times since then with no issue, so ill just assume it needed a reboot.

I didn't have time to wait and to a hard reboot. I simply left the key in it, called LR and asked them to come and tow the truck to the dealer. The dealer called and told me that the module had to be replaced.
The time after they had to replace the instrument cluster... Same symptoms.
