Finally got the motivation this weekend to attempt at replacing my tensioner and quides on my 2011 with almost 300,000 km. It's defiently needed it.
Everything went well up to the point where it didn't. During my attempt at replacing the driver side chain tensioner, when I had the chain quite loose to get the chain quide in place I heard the chain jump one tooth on the crank sprocket which allowed the exhaust side cam sprocket to jump 4ish teeth. The intake one never moved, and didn't even appear to be under tension, must of been just the way the engine was rotated.
I had my position well mark and was able to get the cam variator back to its original spot by spining it back untill it alligned as well as getting the chain back to its original spot in crank sprocket. Engine spins without any mechanical interference and seems to track nice.
Now to the question based on the chain jumping serval teeth on the exhaust variator. Does that mess with the pre-tension. From my limited understanding as long as it back to where it was, which exhibited some spring resistance to get there, I would think it's okay but looking for your input.
Pictures of the old quides attached, note the heavily worn in areas.
