Our dealer does an fun outing every fall on one of the DuPont heir's estate. We've had some good mud one year and some of the trail is pretty technical. We also live about an hour or so from Rausch Creek Off-Road park (http://rc4x4.org) so hope to make it there sometime.

Here's a better picture of the color in the sun.

Longhorn,
Congrats! That's a beautiful ride. The dealership I was at told me they haven't even seen the Landmark LR4's yet and didn't expect to for a few weeks or more. You may very well have one of the first in the country if that true! Beauty of a ride. Happy for you.

It might be our proximity to the Baltimore port, but it had just come off the truck when we saw it. Before pulling the trigger, we looked at dealers in a 300 mile range and couldn't find another one.

Since we're talking about differences between the LUX and the Landmark - the only thing missing on it I miss is the locking differentials and hi/low range and as a result, there is no "rock crawling" mode in the terrain response. We had that on our 2010, but seems like it's harder to find when the NAV8 was swapped for the SCV6,

Ouch. It's gonna be tough off-road without low gears. Rear lockers are not indispensible - the traction control system in these cars is really good - but low range, well... Let us know how it does.

Remember the days when a 2-speed transfer case was standard on every Land Rover? I miss those days.

I hear you and something I didn't catch. I wouldn't trade the truck and certainly no buyers remorse, but is a bit of a bummer. Word from the dealer is that they aren't taking new build orders on Disco/LR 4's anymore, so it was pretty much what's enroute or on the lots.

Longhorn,

It's interesting that you saw that about the custom orders for LR4s. I'm fortunate to have five Land Rover dealerships within about 80 miles. As I spoke to each one in my "just looking phase" a few months ago, I asked some of the same questions to gauge responses. (The dealership that started their conversations discussing "How much I was looking to spend?" and "What kind of financing are you looking for?" got to watch me walk away.) Two dealerships really stood out and a third made a good impression as well. I wound up selecting the one geographically closer of the two most impressive.

As I spoke to all three I asked about ordering my LR4 to spec and heard widely varying responses. One told me they didn't do that anymore, one asked for $5000 down, one said Land Rover wasn't taking orders any longer, and two were willing to help me out. Of the two one said orders took 4-6 months to fill and another promised 2-4. I have to wonder why there were such widely varying responses?

Good question. They certainly seem to be wanting to wind down LR4 production for the model year change over to the new platform. I'm still shocked they didn't take my money for the RRS Autobiography and try to up sell someone else on this LR4

Oh and all the dealers around here seem to have a pretty good inventory of LR4's on their lots. That might explain why they are saying they can't custom order.

Yeah, I was at a dealer in L.A. the other day to get some coolant and saw plenty o new LR4s on the lot, unlike the past year or two. My understanding is that there may be a MY2017 as well, so this is not quite if for the LR4 yet.
