UPDATE: turns out to be 2 different bearing issues (both fronts). One dried out, the other side loose. I suspect I'll let the stealership deal with it as parts are on back order, and they'll provide me with a free loaner until the parts become available. It's probably worthwhile to note... -

DIY Brake & Rotors
Technically no, as long as you don't break 'em when you remove and reinstall the pads. I seem to break them fairly regular on all three of my cars so I've given up and just spend the extra $15 for each sensor. That being said, the ones on the LR3 (mainly the rear) are are a pain to plug in... -
