At least (if and) when I finally do get one, I won't be a renter like you are, newbie; I'll actually own it.

Main reason I'm on here is to get an idea what everyone's "issues" are with the vehicle before I pull the trigger. I'm inclined towards the LR because my father is British, but if going Japanese turns out to be the better buy (even if more expensive), then that's what I'll go with.
