I thought maybe Olli had a D2 and the post was in the wrong forum. Anyway....I'm not so sure the OP's post was a joke, if it was, he got the last laugh!!!

try "Sunroof calibration" (LR3 Owner's Handbook, p121):
w/ ignition @ position II, press & hold front of switch for 20 seconds; when/if it moves, continue to hold until roof completes 1 full (open/close) cycle.

[found last winter, @ LandRoverWorld, when my roof did not open - due to ice.]

I guess I am dense, but it was not clearly a joke to me. I think a joke should be clearly funny - but that is just me - others may disagree.

My sunroof also doesn't work. We did get into the control unit under the cover for the rear entertainment system. If you stab the connector at pin6 and ground it my unit works.

We also took a scope to the communication leads in the connectors and found out that it seems the LIN bus is not communicating with the unit.

I thought about permanently wiring pin 6 but the manual section on this clearly states that "under no circumstances" are you to do that. I have no idea if it constantly energizes the circuit and would cause battery drain or some other ills or if it is just CYA as with pin 6 grounded I think all safety features of the sunroof are overridden.

In any case it's probably worth a try.

Try pressing and holding the sunroof button in the "close" position for 25-30 seconds. It should reset the sunroof control module. It worked for me.

MaskedMonkey2,

My 2008 LR3 windshield was replaced and my sunroof opened but will not work now. I tried the 30 sec. holding button only moved for a second and stopped.

I need to get into the unit.
Can you tell me what tool you use to get into compartment where motor and pins are located to connect wires to trip it while car is on please?

Thank You
GIbeachgirl

I think the potential joke, or unfortunate belittling that occurred, is in the specific "none of the THREE sunroofs open" ..... when only 1 is designed to open in the first place.
