Looks awesome! I'll keep an eye out for your rig at the slopes. Im an hour east of Breck/keystone/abay in Colorado. Hit me up if you end up out this way, I've got loads of space.
Thanks, I’d love to get out that way again. We stayed in Frisco some 20 years ago for a family reunion. I remember visiting Breckenridge and thinking I could live in a town like this. I can’t afford to live IN one, but I do live next to one! That trip was actually my first taste of real off roading. Being from west central MN we didn’t have much for trails near by. Now I love being 10 minutes or less from a trail in any direction!

Sorry your thread got a little sidetracked after I chimed in, I think it turned out very well.

My point had nothing to do with the load rating of tires. It had to do with people overreacting and name calling if you choose to do something different than they have done. I don’t get why your hung up on this, it’s not hard.

lololololol if people would just say up front "i'm too cheap to choose the better option" or "i just want this wheel that looks cool to me" then there would be no debate. Defending ones choice with nonsensical feelings starts the cycle. The bmw wheels don't even have the ideal offset apparently.

*Tell you one more thing about land rover wheels, and I think i read same on the expensive alternatives mentioned: the LR wheel is designed with a bead holding groove that is supposed to hold the tire better when low psi are used..... choosing the bmw wheels for off road use is just plain uninformed and unwillingness to recognize why the ones that cost more are actually worth more.

People put 'other' wheels on various cars all the time but it has no place in this type of forum.

There are SO many variables traveling, even on our well maintained interstate highways, that I think it is most prudent to eliminate as many as possible rather than introduce more potential problems.

As far as I remember, the Compos are rated to 980 kg each, which gives 8642 lbs. Then there’s the tyres, too. The ST Maxxes give you 12170 lbs - on condition the rims hold:))).

I'm still considering steel rims instead of alloys:

https://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/l...-load-rating-1500kg-and-44-pcd-5x120-and.html

these are 18" and fits the D4 3.0 Diesel without mods, so they would be my preference. Weight ratings are 1,5ton which is more than enough and since they are steel, they can handle rocks or impacts a lot better than alloys.

I think I could keep the alloys and use them for normal, daily use and keep the steel for heavy off road only.

I love the look of my current alloys but the D4 with steel wheels, bigger tires and gear looks amazing

I think the diesels use smaller brake calipers

It says under that link "Only Fit If Had 17" Rims Standard Suitable for" - which is funny English but seems to suggest they might NOT fit on a 3.0 D4.
