Ok, I'm on a mission to complete an ambitious project.

Can someone tell me the difference between the LR3 and LR4 front calipers and brake pads? I've been searching around and the front caliper seems like some sites show the LR3 and LR4 to have the same part numbers and some can be swapped between the v6 and v8 versions, including the 2.7 diesel.

I can't find much information about the rears, are the rear calipers/pads the same between the LR3 and LR4?

Another approach is, does the LR4 calipers fit the following SEH500012 and SXP500013 caliper brackets? IF not, which calipers will fit them?

I swear that the V8 LR3s may have had bigger calipers than the V6s? Could be out to lunch. Perhaps these bigger calipers are the same for the LR4. I think LR4 rotor size increased.

The LR3 V8 calipers are bigger than the V6 ones, but still allow for 18” wheels. The V6 calipers allow for 17s.

Mudtech has a kit on their site to allow 17s on a LR4. Not sure if it uses the LR3 V6 calipers, but it would make sense if they do.

Pretty sure the V6 and V8 LR4 brake pads & rotors are identical. (Bigger than the LR3 rotors)

I recently got new OEM pads & rotors and while installing the winter tires I noticed "Brembo" stamped in the rotors. That explains why the OEM rotors perform so well and seldom warp.

Yeah, all LR4 brakes and calipers are the same. But there was a V6 LR3 option the first year or two of its existence, and those were small enough to allow 17" wheels.

Yes that is how I understood it. Some LR3 V6 owners and diesel Disco 3 owners did the V8 caliper swap.

That's how I understood it too. However, upon installing all the hardware I quickly noticed that the LR4 has a HUGE front caliper that doesn't mount up to the brackets. So I'm just referring to the fronts. The 5.0L pads don't fit the 4.0L or 2.7L brackets, they're too big. Looks like the LR3 v6 and v8 pads are interchangeable. The LR3 calipers have a different part number from the LR4. I ended up ordering the LR3 calipers and pads that are compatible with the 2.7 tdv6.

Hopefully that'll do it.

Hopefully that shows up for some closure to this. Project is successful and complete.
