Anyone experience high towing temps? 2013 V8.
I was towing a ~1500 lb empty box trailer this past weekend.
The outside air temp was ~105˚ F. Elevation was from 1000' to 5000'. Temp at the top was about 85˚F.
Car was running at 220 on the oil and about 220 on the coolant cruising at 75 mph. The thermal clutch on the fan was engaged a lot, which seems right for these temps. When I was climbing a decent hill at highway speed, the temps came up to about 240 on oil and coolant, and the actual temp gauge on the car started to move. No lights or anything came on, as 240 is still somewhat acceptable for temperature. I just didn't think it'd get this hot towing a light trailer.
Starting to wonder if I'm going to need a water pump soon... or if the cooling system just isn't up to it. 56k miles, although still under warranty.
Edit: Upon looking at the coolant level, it’s below the cold fill line... to the dealership I go.
