Wow! I installed mine by myself in about an hour with the help of a floor jack. $2k additional for that?
An hour total? This includes removal of the original bumper? Local LR indy shop must be charging close to 1.5 days labor

With removal and everything was probably closer to 90 minutes. AND I was trying to do wiring, too (I bought the rear parking sensor option..skip that, because mine don't work with the spare there).

12 hours is ridiculous unless the howler monkey they have doing it has lost one arm and only the shop basset hound is available to assist. 2-3 hours estimated, I could see. 2 hours feels at least in the ballpark.

I ordered mine last October and still waiting for it to be done. If you think its crazy to buy the Tactical 4x4 on your LR4 with 104k miles. I definitely would disagree since i have a 2006 LR3 HSE with 178k miles on it and ordered the rear bumper with the tire carrier ,2 jerry can carrier. I read some of your post or that your thinking of selling your LR4 if thats the case then it wouldn’t be practical for you to buy a rear bumper since you will never recover the cost of the bumper. But as for me I have 2 LR3 the other one is my spare for just in case im going to need a engine or transmission someday since we always go off-roading or just going to the mountains to hang out and eat.

I had a brief moment of madness when I thought I would sell the LR4 and get a Defender… it passed. I see it having a life as a treasured third vehicle down the road - ready for select adventures throughout the Rockies. I drove it from Colorado to the east coast and back last October - bit of a haul, but it was comfortable, full of gear and a dog and never missed a beat.

Lol you think October is bad?! I ordered my Gobi last May, 2021, and I still don’t have a rack 9 months later.

I hope you get it soon. I just ordered one a few weeks ago and hope to get it by March. They said 8-10 weeks but, evidently, could stretch out even more.

My LR4 has 131k so hopefully not crazy. It’s a great adventure mobile and the rear tire carrier is needed for a larger tire. Plus the 2 jerry can holder will add range and/or water

I hope the supply chain will get better so that you’ll get yours earlier
