Hey everyone,

I'm trying to replace the fog light bulbs in my car and I'm completely confused by all the similar looking options: H11, H8, H9, and H16. They seem to fit the same housing, but I've read that swapping the wrong one in can cause overheating or wiring issues.

Are these bulbs interchangeable, or are there real differences in wattage, connector type, or beam pattern?

My vehicle manual just says "H11" but I've seen forum threads where people swapped in H16 bulbs for better output.

Can someone explain the actual differences and which is safest to use?

I'd stick with the H11 since that is what it calls for. On my fog lights the factory brightness is enough to drive off-road w/out headlights at night. Seems like it is enough light for its purpose even though I don't use them in fog lol. We don't really have fog here but the rear laps when on change the tail light color to all red. That looks pretty good too.
