Hi Guys and Gals,

My wife and I are looking to get an LR3 since we totaled our Volvo XC90 recently. I've found www.texascarsdirect.com on the internet and it seems they have some great prices on used LR3s. I was wondering if any of you had any experience with them. I'm leery of buying over the phone and having it shipped out, but I'm also not sure I want to do the 25 hour drive from there to my house.

Any insight would be appreciated.

I just bought a LR3 their about 2 weeks ago. Everything went pretty good.
I would recommend them. Saved me a bunch of money. PM me and
I will send you my phone number if you want to talk about it.

I've been scouring the internet for the last few months and TexasCarsDirect usually seems to have some of the lowest prices. Unfortunately I'm still holding an aging LR Freelander that needs to go before acquring the LR3, so I haven't purchased anything yet (SWMBO doesn't seem to like the idea of a coupe & SUV apeice for each of us!).

Any comments from your or xjer are always helpful. I'm currently looking for a 2006 SE7 V8 with at least rear-air & winter package (heated seats/windshield); other options are considered a bonus. I've seen a few so far around the country with less then 30k miles around $20k USD. I'm from Canada, and have bought vehicles in the US before, so I'm expecting to fly somewhere (on points!) and drive the vehicle back - probably doing some site-seeing along the way.

I can buy you something wholesale from the factory sale here near Detroit if you're from this side of Canada.

I may take you up on that! I'm about 3 hours or so from Detroit; an easy drive (minus the potholes on the US side  ).

Any ideas on what the prices look like? Feel free to PM if you don't want to post in the regular forum.

There's a sale each month. 2006 off lease with low miles are cheap. Problem is, I'm gone the rest of this month so we would have to do it in October. Can you wait?

I've bought three cars from them. They were fine and the prices were always a good deal.

mustbeaudi - can you get Audis at the sale? In particular, I'm looking for a 2005.5 or newer S4 Avant Tiptronic - less than 40k miles (less than 30k ideally). Any color but white (I'd prefer black, Nogaro blue, Imola yellow, red, dolphin gray, but I'd take a silver, etc).

Thanks,
Rich

Rich,
I am happy to see if such cars are coming up, but they're a bit rare and all will run in places other than MI. Ohio, Chicago, Atlanta, PA, to name a few VW sale locations near here. I can't go to any, but can readily buy online. Prepurchase inspection is limited to visual (no mechanical or driving permitted at a Manheim auction site) and is up to you. I once had a local Audiworld member inspect a car for me. We can talk in October, just put it on your calendar. (See above.) I also have access to an extended service contract at wholesale if you like. I'm not in this business, I sell food, but do enough car stuff on the side and for myself and others that I know something about what I'm doing!
