Command shift stopped working, no transmission fault message, auto shifting works perfectly fine. Slap it over to command shift...and nothing acts as if does not exist. Nothing else is impacted, all other components work. Any suggestions?

Also rear parking sensors works when it hits 80 degrees exterior temp, but long beep and blinking light when below 80, leads me to believe it is a wire harness issue. Shop is 3.5 hours away, so I tend to fix most items myself.

I would check the 3-4 harnesses underneath the center console. Any moisture that could have possibly got in there can cause corrosion on some of the pins, creating constant or intermittant faults. Pull them all apart and check and use some electrical contact cleaner before reconnecting.

The harness on the shifter assembly itself can be hard to see as it is tucked down it, but to remove it you need to press in near the middle and then slide the top piece downward from the top to the bottom to release it.

Let us know how it goes!

Got it all done, cleaned it 2x, looked just like your posted pic, same corrosion (attached pic). Put it all back together and unfortunately....nothing still will not recognize command shift.

I guess I should have added that in the end I needed a whole new shifter assembly myself. In my case I broke a pin on the assembly trying to clean it before I could even test it after I cleaned all the other harnesses as well. Best price I could find at the time was LandRoverMerriamParts.com

The assembly also came with the entire shifter cable even though it did not explicitly say that it did. When I went to do this I needed my LR3 the next day and I quickly realized that I could not be 100% sure if the cable actually came off the shifter assembly or not. I tried with some force but could not pop it off the new assembly and there is little room to even see how the old one is attached as it will only stretch a few inches away from where it is bolted in.

I had seen a part for just the cable, so I assumed that it did come off, but I was too nervous that I would break the new assembly trying to find out, so I ended up getting underneath and removing the entire shifter cable with the shifter level assembly. A lot more work than I had anticipated as I decided to start at 9pm at night in my garage thinking it would be a 20 minute swap! FYI, the cable "plug" twists clockwise to come out - you can see the notches in the photos below.

Once I had the old one out I felt free to use a little extra force and I was able to pop off the cable from the old assembly and see how it went together.

If you break your cable somehow I still have my old one which was fine (although a little dirty). I also opted to replace my shifter plate at the same time because I had another issue where the D light was always lit.

I tested the old plate with the new assembly and that issue went away, so it was not the plate itself that was causing it, but the shifter assembly board.

I swapped the plates anyway since I had the new one and my old one had a tiny scratch. The new one seemed a touch deeper orange in color (the PRND lights) than the other orange lights around console, but now I do not notice it.

Good luck!

My command shift stop working and I had intermittent problem with removing keys after being in park position. So I tried to clean the connector (Shift Assembly cable) with CRC electronic cleaner. I did not have any corrosion as show in above pictures but luckily that fix it and brought my command shift back. My keys now can be remove instantly after I park the vehicle. The connector is hard to install back with the Shift Assembly in place so I removed the 4 torx screws to reinsert the connector. However doing that, I accidently without my knowledge unlatch the metal C-CLIP that holds the cable. Be careful when this happens as the C-CLIP is pretty tight to install back in place. You also need to make sure that once in position that you are in PARK mode when done. You can check this by putting the key int he ignition and making sure it is in park mode. The cable can easily shift itself as you install it back.

Well spoke to soon. Just the next day. It is gone again. That is a bummer. It is intermittent after all. Funny all other functions are fine

Update: Update: Update: Update: Update:

So such a bizarre discovery. So my intermittent Sport Mode / Command Shift only shows up and work when..... I turn my lights on!!! Yeah you read this right. As long as my lights are on, I can see the Sport mode in my instrument cluster working and command shift. Works okay with lights on!
I hope someone since 2005 have encounter this and shed me some info. Please share your experience. It is 2018 so I'm hoping this is not unique.
